Ghana’s first Municipal Solid Waste-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel facility
80,000–90,000 tonnes per year of CORSIA-compliant SAF, produced through a Gasification and Fischer-Tropsch pathway — engineered for institutional-grade bankability from the ground up.
Turning municipal waste into aviation-grade fuel, at scale
F&B Bio Recyclage Ltd is developing Ghana’s first large-scale Municipal Solid Waste-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel facility at the Afienya Special Economic Zone in Tema Industrial Area, Greater Accra. The plant will process municipal solid waste through gasification, converting it into syngas, which is then upgraded via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis into CORSIA-compliant sustainable aviation fuel.
At full capacity, the facility is designed to produce 80,000–90,000 tonnes of SAF per year — positioning it as the first project of its kind in West Africa, and a reference case for waste-to-fuel infrastructure across the continent.
The project is structured as a 30% equity / 70% DFI-anchored debt financing, with a total capital requirement of USD 1.263 billion. Financial architecture has been built to institutional standards from inception: an IFRS-restated 20-year financial model, an 18-year senior debt tenor, and a 1.25x debt service coverage ratio.

Built against the standards the industry is already moving toward
Carbon offsetting compliance
Designed to meet the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, positioning offtake for airlines managing CORSIA obligations.
National climate commitments
Directly supports Ghana’s Nationally Determined Contributions by diverting municipal waste from landfill into productive, export-grade fuel.
Export market alignment
Structured to serve the growing SAF blending requirements set by the EU mandate, with capacity sized for long-term offtake commitments.
A partner ecosystem selected for licensor-grade credibility
Technology selection and EPC formalization have progressed through a Board-ratified process, with named licensors and contractors engaged under NDA and MOU frameworks.
Modelled to institutional standards
Independent validation, not just internal claims
Three ways to engage with the project
Investors & DFIs
Series A equity and DFI-anchored debt financing, including offtake-linked bankability documentation.
Offtake partners
CORSIA-compliant SAF supply for airlines and fuel distributors seeking long-term offtake agreements.
Press & partnerships
Media inquiries, technology licensing partners, and EPC contractor engagement.
