F&B Bio Recyclage Ltd is pleased to announce that it has been recognised at the African Excellence Awards 2026, hosted by MEA Markets, receiving two accolades:
🔹Best New Large-Scale Waste-to-Energy Infrastructure Project Developer 2026.
🔹Circular Biofuel Infrastructure Innovation Award 2026.
These two categories reflect the two defining characteristics of our MSW to SAF project: its scale as a large infrastructure undertaking, and the technical innovation of converting municipal solid waste into a certifiable circular aviation fuel rather than a lower-value energy output.
F&B Bio Recyclage is developing Ghana’s first large-scale Municipal Solid Waste-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (MSW-to-SAF) facility, located within the Tema Industrial Area, Greater Accra. The project aims to convert 2000 tons of municipal solid waste into ASTM D7566/CORSIA-compliant Sustainable Aviation Fuel, supporting Ghana’s circular economy ambitions and contributing to the decarbonisation of aviation across the region.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Frederick Opoku Agyekum, Project Development Director of F&B Bio Recyclage. “Being recognised as both a large-scale developer and an innovator in the same award cycle speaks to what we set out to build from day one — a project that is ambitious in scale and genuinely novel in its approach to Ghana’s waste challenge. It reflects the dedication of our team and partners as we work to bring Africa’s first large-scale MSW-to-SAF facility to financial close and, ultimately, to operation.”
The project has previously been listed on the ICAO Finvest Hub and featured in Ghana’s Final SAF Business Implementation Study, developed under ICAO’s ACT-SAF Programme.
F&B Bio Recyclage continues to advance our Ghana facility through its development pipeline, working with technology, engineering, and financing partners toward delivery of a project expected to generate significant greenhouse gas abatement and support waste management infrastructure in Ghana.
About the African Excellence Awards
The Organiser
The African Excellence Awards are hosted by MEA Markets, a publication under AI Global Media, a UK-based B2B media group publishing across finance, technology, healthcare, and regional business sectors, reporting on business developments across the Middle East and Africa region.
The Selection Process
The African Excellence Awards evaluate nominees on merit-based factors including business performance, strategic leadership, market impact, and contribution to regional development, with the stated aim of basing recognition on genuine achievement rather than size, popularity, or marketing spend. Nominees are assessed through what MEA Markets describes as an independent, research-led judging process.
According to MEA Markets, their research team gathers information independently from publicly accessible sources, which is then assessed alongside any material submitted by a nominating party or by nominees themselves. Final judgment is based on criteria including business performance, longevity, diversification, sustained or rapid growth, significant innovations, and stakeholder feedback. Winners are personally notified before any public announcement, allowing time for internal communications and marketing coordination ahead of the wider release.
